Tonight is New Years Eve

 Here are some Famous Taboos…………..

1. Do not use knives or scissors on New Year’s Day, as this may cut off your fortune.

2. Shooting off firecrackers on New Year’s Eve is the Chinese way of sending out the old     year and welcoming in the New Year.

3.On the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve, every door in the house is opened, and       even windows.Opening the doors and windows  allows the old year to leave.

4.It is considered unlucky to greet anyone in their bedroom.   Everyone, even the sick,      should get dressed and sit in the living room.

5.Everyone should refrain from using foul language and bad or unlucky words. Negative   terms and the word “four” (Ssu), which sounds like the word for death, are not to be    uttered.

6.Death and dying are never mentioned and ghost stories are totally taboo. References    to the past year are also avoided as everything should be turned toward the New Year and a new beginning.

The Art of Life at Work Has Arrived

I am excited to share the completion of my latest book

: The Art of Life at Work”

It is dedicated to my loving family, who are  from the Midwest. Growing up they instilled in me the importance and value that a good day’s work brings.

The book consists of 40 quotes I have lived by whether it was during my days as a corporate citizen or an entrepreneur

It can be used as an inspirational or motivational tool, as well as a journal. As a journal, you will be able to capture your journey or private thoughts on any given day,

In the coming days, I will share how you can purchase your own copy of this labor of love.

I would like to acknowledge Marla Shaw for the beautiful cover and artwork throughout the book. In addition to her editorial guidance and gentle patience  during the completion of the book.

Stay Golden,

Dr. Janet Woods

We Rise

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families of the Las Vegas Shooting Massacre

In the midst of chaos, people will show you what they’re made of.The stories of sacrifice and heroism in Las Vegas during the largest mass murder in US history has been truly inspiring to me.

Oprah Winfrey was asked about her feeling about the Las Vegas Massacre

“These tragedies are a reminder to Live in the present with the Ordinariness of our lives, They become Extraordinary when the ones we love do not come home.”

December Super Full Moon Rising

moonflip

This week’s full moon is known as a Super moon because it is bigger and brighter than usual.  The December moon is called “The Cold Moon”. Winter takes a firm hold and temperatures plummet. Sometimes this moon is also called the “Long Night Moon” as the winter nights get longer and the moon spends more time above the horizon opposite a low sun. The full moon name often used by Christian settlers is the “Moon before Yule”.

The Super moon this month is expected to be as much as 13% bigger than when the full moon is at its smallest and furthest away from the planet.  It will also be at its closest point to our planet as it orbits Earth.

The moon has an emotional effect on many people. For the next few days be kind to people, since they may be a little of of their game. Be kind to yourself, and do some activities that make you feel better.

The evening  of the Full Moon is December 12. Know as 12/12. The vibration of 12/12 takes us back to the foundation or beginning of something.  The goal is to keep an open mind  about things that have mystified or eluded us. If you are open we  can shown alternatives or new ways of doing being.  Things are revisited or “re-addressed,”  and revealed.
